Voyage Raleigh: Life & Work with Shannon Lesane
Recently, Voyage Raleigh shared an interview about my life and work. I’m grateful for the opportunity to reflect on the journey that’s shaped who I am today.

My path has taken me from small-town roots to military service, corporate leadership, entrepreneurship, and authorship. Along the way, I’ve learned that leadership is less about control and more about trust.
Execution without meaning burns people out.
Vision without discipline goes nowhere.
The strongest systems don’t just deliver results they protect people.
Writing Jagged Edges: A Journey Through Love, Reflection, and Forgiveness wasn’t separate from my leadership work. It was an extension of it. Reflection sharpens judgment. Healing deepens empathy. And self-awareness makes us better decision-makers when the stakes are high.
At this stage of my career, I’m intentional about what I build and who I build with. I’m drawn to work that creates clarity, strengthens people, and leaves organizations better than I found them.
If anything in the piece sparks a question or conversation, I’d love to connect.
