ABOUT SHANNON S. LESANE

Shannon S. Lesane is a freelance writer based in Raleigh, North Carolina, with a passion for poetry, short stories, and reflective essays on love, family, faith, and forgiveness. Raised in East Arcadia, a small town in rural Bladen County, she grew up surrounded by storytelling and deep community ties, which continue to shape her work.

Writing has always been her way of understanding the world by exploring life’s struggles, joys, and the bonds between generations. Her poems, short stories, and letters serve as a legacy of love and resilience, especially for her family.

Her debut collection, Jagged Edges: A Journey Through Love, Reflection, and Forgiveness, brings together years of personal writings that she hopes will inspire, comfort, and encourage others to embrace their own stories — with all their imperfections, beauty, and grace. Kirkus Reviews praised the book, stating, “Her unflinching honesty, particularly in poems about becoming a mother and learning to accept her daughter’s choices, will endear her to readers, especially those with children.”

When not writing, Shannon enjoys reading, gardening, and traveling with her husband, Charlie. She draws inspiration from everyday moments: quiet mornings, family gatherings, and the lessons found in both hardship and grace.
